2025: a year of unrelenting crises

Acute hunger continues at alarming highs.  As of November 2024, 343 million people were identified as acutely food insecure in 74 countries where ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳works and data is available.  

The mid-year update of 319 million people facing hunger in 67 countries sadly does not reflect an actual drop in hunger levels as it is  mainly due to lack of updated data in seven countries.  

Throughout the remainder of 2025, concerning levels of hunger are expected to persist. In Sudan, famine is already a reality. In Gaza, it is imminent, with conditions projected to deteriorate further amid sustained violence and severe constraints on humanitarian access.  

WFP¡¯s net funding requirements for the remainder of 2025 is?US$5.7 billion. With the current expected funding levels, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳plans to reach 98 million people in 2025.
